Tanya Ashworth
Tanya likes to be known as a freelance illustrator with a combination of different skills painting in gouache and acrylics - illustration, technical design and commercial graphic design. She is greatly influenced by the skills of painters in the Bauhaus era (1919 onward),Cubism, Futurism, Surrealism, Neo-Plasticism, Dadaism to Pop art eras and Asian Art.
Tanya's major paintings all typify the essence of a vibrant marine spectacle. With the five elements, water, fish, coral, sky and sun she is able to combine the use of curves and hard bold lines into her designs. Water currents are quite prominent in all of her paintings as they are an important part in the lives of fish as they determine their daily paths through shallow and deep waters. With the use of light and currents of water, she is able to orchestrate them in a way that the two enhance the living splendour below our ocean waters. Sunlight, being the central factor in all of her paintings is a significant element that pulls all of the paintings together. It also creates hints of shadows and highlights anything in its path. Over the years Tanya's work has evolved from layered collages and bold abstract designs to more recent semi realistic paintings. As an illustrator, Tanya has always believed that it is important to vary one's skills. Not only is it an asset but it is also a creative challenge that keeps growing each day. To this present day she is a strong believer in developing new styles of illustrative works purely because she enjoys the challenge.
