Summer Gillett
Born in North Queensland, Australia my earliest memories are those of a life living close to nature. Drawn towards the arts from an early age, I began painting at age 14 and have been drawing and painting for 12 years.
Self taught Ive enjoyed exploring materials and mediums to produce an earthy, unique style born of experimentation. My artistic expression comes from a place of deep respect and appreciation for the natural world. I love painting the female form, and celebrating the diversity of beauty is a constant form of inspiration.
With a passion for travel and adventure I have visited countries throughout Indonesia, Asia and the Pacific, worked with local artists and studied traditional and more contemporary art forms.
Recently settled in Far North Queensland with my three year old daughter, we enjoy exploring the area and its unique flora and fauna.
To me art and painting is a way of life, a joyous expression celebrating the beauty of this existence and I aim to portray a sense of this sacredness in my artworks.
