Di Sant
Art has been a passion all of my life. As a young girl living on a goat farm in the outback I was self-taught and took the charcoal from the wooden stove to use for my first drawing. Later I was introduced to the use of acrylics at school. I furthered my education in art by joining Scott's Correspondence College where I studied oil paints.
After a long break and a serious motor vehicle accident I decided to resume my interest in art. Attending life-drawing classes with the late John Kibby motivated me and as a result held successful exhibitions in both Atherton and Cairns.
I furthered my education by completing a Certificate III and Diploma in Visual Art, following with a workshop in New Guinea. I then had a joint exhibition in Canada with various showings in NSW and Vic.
My work is motivated by the desire to depict more than merely the superficial aspects of everyday life. Using the process of painting and mix media I explore the subconscious influences on memory and perception. The multi layered aspect of conscious and subconscious thought is complex so my exploration attempts to portray this. Such an approach I feel allows the viewers to discover the work form the context of their own perception and experience.
