Colin Priest
I was born in a small country town called Wellington, in the state of New South Wales. So, I am a country boy at heart coming from a family of 3 children. At school I always excelled art, whilst being an average student.
At 16 years old I joined the Royal Australia Navy and was bitten by the travel bug ever since. Art in other countries revealed a diverse sense of the word. Monuments sculptured to be religiously idolised, galleries where Monets water lilies glisten on pond. Whether it is my art or others, initially, on first site I see 2 things, the enjoyment the artist had composing the piece and the enjoyment viewing it.
I have never had any formal art tuition as yet, but one day I wish to experiment with it. I have been working my chosen medium, pastels, for around 3 years. They give me great balance between colour, light, depth, shadows and the softness they can perform. Portraits can have picture perfect results or rougher, in some cases this can be a hazardous, but generally most people are pleased with my results. Overall, happiness is what art means to me.
